Michigan CPL Classes

This is NOT your average CPL class! At Low Ready Arms, we pride ourselves on far exceeding the standards set by the State of Michigan. We guarantee that you will leave this class with a heightened sense of confidence and empowerment. Our small class sizes enable us to provide ample one on one instruction for every student to ensure they are competent in basic defensive fundamentals. This course consists of 5 hours of classroom instruction, a legal brief, and 3 hours of range time.

carbine courses

Carbine Level 1: This introductory course is designed to teach the student how to safely and properly operate their rifle/carbine in a non-defensive posture.

  • Safety

  • Stances (Prone, Kneeling Standing)

  • Fundamentals of Marksmanship

  • Zero (30 rounds)

  • Height Over Bore

  • Malfunctions

  • Dot Drills

Carbine Level 2: This course will leave the student prepared to use their rifle/carbine for defense within a close-quarters environment. (Must complete Carbine 1 prior to registration)

  • Kinesthetic Alignment

  • Reloads

  • Out of Optic Drills

  • Ready Positions & Engagement

Carbine Level 3: This course will provide the student with the basic skills required to operate their equipment while moving as well as the proper use of cover and concealment. (Must complete Carbine 2 prior to registration)

Defensive pistol courses

These courses are designed for beginner and intermediate shooters who already possess a CPL.

Defensive Pistol 1: This course is designed to teach the student various fundamentals on how to properly operate their handgun with a focus on accuracy and proper technique. (Must have a valid CPL or have completed our Basic Pistol class prior to registration)

Defensive Pistol 2: This course is designed to teach the student how to properly operate their handgun in a defensive manner with a focus on balancing speed and accuracy. (Must complete DP1 prior to registration)

Realtor Self-Defense Training

24% of real estate agents fear for their personal safety while working out in public. However, with the right training, you can get a vote in how a violent encounter unfolds and potentially avoid it entirely. For the last 4 years, Low Ready Arms’ training has been a vital part of the West Michigan Lakeshore Association of Realtors’ new member orientation. We offer private group CPL classes and private lessons for those who are just beginning their marksmanship training, those who want to kick old habits, or those who just want a safe and organized fun day at the range.
