Our Defensive Pistol 1 class introduces students to the fundamentals of safe firearm handling, operation, and marksmanship. It covers topics such as safety rules, parts and functions of a pistol, loading and unloading procedures, proper stance, grip, sight alignment, and trigger control. Students also practice live-fire exercises under instructor supervision to build confidence and accuracy. By the end of the class, participants understand how to safely handle, store, and maintain a handgun.
Prior to registering for Defensive Pistol 2, students must have completed this course or possess a current Michigan Concealed Pistol License.

Required Items
Ammunition: 100 rounds of factory ammunition (available for purchase the morning of class)
Close-toed Shoes
Brimmed Hat: This will help prevent spent casings from getting stuck behind your eye protection.
Handgun: If you do not own a handgun, one can be provided to you. If you choose to borrow a .22 caliber handgun, we can supply the ammunition. However, if you select a larger caliber handgun to use for the day, you will need to purchase your own ammunition the morning of class.

Ear and Eye Protection: Prescription lens are acceptable.
Cancellation Policy: Students are required to cancel at least 72 hours in advance of a class date in order to receive a full refund. Classes cancelled less than 72 hours before the class may be rescheduled but not refunded. We will do our best to assist you, however, rescheduling is dependent upon availability.
